Media at the Movement Strategy Table
The ability of the progressive multimedia ecosystem to bring social change has been debated for decades. More recently, as news becomes increasingly indistinguishable from policy agenda, the roles of organizers and journalists in the creation of social narratives have shifted.
Where is this heading and how do we make the most of it? As Rachel Wiedinger wrote, “What’s the specific path from narrative creation to narrative wins?” How do we shape a new model of social transformation in which journalists and media institutions are not approached as ideological delivery systems, but assume a seat at movement strategy tables? What are the lines we should observe, if any, between journalism, advocacy and propaganda?
