Art & Resistance: Lessons from Minnesota
Every movement in history has used songs, symbols, and spectacle to shape culture and catalyze durable change. This training offers an accessible overview of art as political expression and persuasion, examining how creativity can inspire agency, demonstrate solidarity, and act as a force multiplier for organizing. Drawing from national context and case studies from Minnesota’s resistance to militarized ICE enforcement, we’ll analyze—not just admire—what artists did, why it worked, and how art complemented traditional tactics like protests, mutual aid, and legislative pressure. Participants will gain practical frameworks for integrating art into campaigns in ways that build morale, broaden participation, and shift public sentiment.
