Defying Fascism: People-controlled Technology IS Mutual Aid
The current moment of state repression in the US is part of a trend that goes beyond one person, one country or one point in history. But it does have one historically unique trait: the use of corporate technologies, which support the military surveillance state while weaponizing our data. Mutual Aid is a revolutionary act that keeps our people alive while capitalism and the state threaten our very existence. It works not because it is more convenient, less expensive, faster or easier. It works because its better, safer, accessible, and can be trusted. In this session, we will discuss how technology must follow the same model of mutual aid to collectively re-imagine and build technology that is better, safer, accessible and can be trusted.
